Islamic Organizations are Obliged to be in Permanent Alliance, not just in Issue-based Alliance

In Surah Al Imran, Allah swt says, “Hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope (Qur’an) of Allah, and be not divided” (3:103). It is known from Hadith sources that this Rope of Allah means the Qur’an. This is mentioned in Hadith 122 from Ibn Hibban and Hadith 6228 from Muslim that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, “Indeed this Qur’an is a rope – one end of it is in the Hand of Allah and the other end is in your hands. So, hold firmly to it, that you would never go astray and never be destroyed.”

How did the Prophet (saw) act on this Ayah? He organized all Sahabas under one umbrella. After the Prophet (saw), the Khulafa-e-Rashedun established the Khilafa for the entire Muslim Ummah. Although later, the center of khilafa has shifted from Madina to Damascus, Baghdad, and Istanbul, yet there has never been two khilafas for the Ummah.

In fact, Khilafa, as established and expanded by the Khulafa-e-Rashedun on the Prophetic Model, as prophesized by the Prophet (saw) himself (Ahmad 17680), and which continued for thirty years, is the manifestation of the Verse 3:103, and is, therefore, the model for all Muslims of the entire Ummah.

In the absence of the Islamic Khilafa, Muslims in different countries have formed Islamic Organizations to carry out Islamic Movement for bringing back Islamic Hukumat or Khilafa. Most of these organizations have Qur’an and Sunnah as their basis. But unfortunately, these Qur’anic organizations function as separate Islamic organizations. They only form alliances when there is a common issue to fight together, or sometimes, before elections.

But, if we carefully look at the Command of Allah swt, “Hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope (Qur’an) of Allah, and be not divided”, we can see that, in reality, our Islamic organizations are separately and dividedly holding to the Rope of Allah swt, which is a deviation from what was supposed to be the case.

According to this Ayah (3:103), all Qur’anic or Islamic organizations must always be in some form of permanent alliance, until the re-establishment of the Khilafa. They don’t have to compromise in terms of their own organizational policies and practices in order to be in such an alliance. They only need to find some common grounds in order to be in a permanent alliance. Unfortunately, these organizations have never seriously worked for this. But this is still possible, and it must be done.

The following Hadith of Prophet saw also highlight the “One Body” concept of the unity of Muslims. Narrated An-Nu`man bin Bashir, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it” (Bukhari 6011 and Muslim 2586a). It is also evident from this Hadith that, Islamic organizations must be in permanent alliance in order to resemble the concept of One Body of Muslim Ummah.

We all know about the need for unity, and also know the consequences of not being united. We all know that, “United we stand, divided we fall”. In every Muslim country, the work of Islamic Movement is suffering because of this disunity. While the enemies of Islam are trying their best to create and maintain disunity among the Islamic organizations, the leaders of these Islamic organizations are unable to recognize this fact.

Had all of these Islamic organizations been together in alliance, they could easily be in various local and national authorities in order to carry out the Qur’anic duty of Enjoining Right and Forbidding Wrong. Fitnah and Oppression have spread throughout the world because of the absence of this role of Enjoining Right and Forbidding Wrong. That is why Allah says in Sura Anfal of Qur’an (Verse 8:73), “And the unbelievers are allies of each other. Unless you do this, there will be Fitnah and oppression on earth, and great corruption”.

One reason behind the lack of unity among Islamic organizations is Zionist Infiltration. When the Zionists realized that they are very few in number, yet they planned to dominate or take control of the world, they undertook a strategy to infiltrate into important organizations, including those in the Muslim countries. Their hidden agents are always secretly working to persuade many Islamic organizations in adopting the wrong direction. Knowledgeable people in the Islamic organizations need to be aware of this fact of Zionist infiltration, and need to identify and get rid of the hidden agents in order to enable their organizations to act as per Qur’an and Sunnah.

Takeaway Message: All Islamic Organizations that are carrying out programs as per Qur’an and Sunnah do have an obligation to be in some form of permanent alliance. Operating generally as separate Islamic organizations, and only forming alliance while fighting common issues, or just to win in elections, is not acceptable as per the Qur’anic Verse 3:103, and Hadiths Bukhari 6011 and Muslim 2586a.
